3 Minute Monday – HustlePorn, Dana White & Mince Pies

3 Minute Monday

Hi friend,

I hope you enjoyed a merry Christmas.

I’m currently suffering a ginormous cheese & mince pie comedown.

Worth it though.

This weird Xmas-to-NYE period is a bit odd.

There’s no real intentionality or direction to it.

Because of that, it can be easy to feel guilt around not working.

Especially if you’re a classic Type-A personality.

The #HustlePorn movement has taught us that grinding 365 is the way to go.

But only if you want to die young.

And unproductive.

Remember that giving yourself time to relax IS a part of the process toward maximal growth.

“Your ability to deploy power is directly proportional to your ability to relax.”

That’s from David Allen, the Grandaddy Wizard of the modern productivity movement.

Athletes aren’t training PRs every day, they know that their best work is facilitated by rest.

My advice is to start your days well with some big wins to keep the Wasteman Guilt at bay.

Train/read/work as necessary and then relax.

I’ll be spending a big chunk of time this week doing my End Of Year Review & Goal Setting.

Most people know that they should take this time to check in with how their life is going.

But very few people have a good, structured process for doing this.

In my godly, chadly wisdom however, I anticipated this issue.

Or consider it a belated Christmas present from me to you.

I organised an episode with Former Top 20 Online Poker Player and Productivity Coach, Chris Sparks.

This episode takes you through the exact process Chris uses with his high performers & CEOs.

A full, comprehensive end of year review plus goal setting for the coming year.

And he’s created a free worksheet that gives you the exact structure we discuss on the episode.

Listen now to the Ultimate End Of Year Review Process.

I really hope it helps.

MODERN WISDOM

I do a podcast which is dowsed in Large Penis Momentum. You should subscribe on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

This week’s upcoming episodes:

Monday.
The mic gets flipped around on me and I discuss my mental strengths and flaws with Psychotherapist Charlotte Fox-Weber. Big change of pace but may help you to frame many of your own inner workings against mine.

Thursday.
Another sabbatical. NYE bro.

Saturday.
Not sure yet. Maybe one about Love Drugs or HRV training or Optionality.

THINGS I’VE LEARNED

1.
Goals & actions can make you happy.

The psychologists Ken Sheldon and Tim Kasser found that people who are mentally healthy & happy have a higher degree of “vertical coherence” amongst their goals.

Higher level (long term) goals and lower-level (immediate) goals all fit together well.

The aim is to make the pursuit of your short-term goals advance the pursuit of your long-term goals.
(h/t The Happiness Hypothesis by J. Haidt)

2.
You are a finite creature surrounded by infinite complexity.

Of course you’re going to be scared.

The goal for all of us is to locally reverse this entropy.

3.
Dana White understands the media better than the media does.

“The media are not in the news business, they are in the clickbait business. They think negativity sells and gets clicks, so that’s what they deliver. Negativity is their product.” — Dana White

LIFE HACK

ASDA Crumble Mince Pies

Honestly, these things are outstanding.

Get them before they’re taken down off the shelves.

My current record is 8 in a day.

Big love,
