Hi friend, welcome to the first ever 3 Minute Monday.
Before we enter into this email-relationship, let me tell you why I’m here…
I love learning about the world, recording podcasts with fascinating humans, finding interesting content and discovering better ways to live.
My goal is to compile the best of these insights every week to help improve your existence.
In 3 minutes or less.
If that sounds like what you’re into, then we’re going to get on just fine. Welcome to the family you beautiful, beautiful person.
If it doesn’t sound like what you’re into, or it you joined by accident, feel free to Unsubscribe here. I’ll be sad to see you go, but I’ll get over it!
Now that’s out of the way, let me open up…

I’ve been putting off writing this first Newsletter for weeks since launching the mailing list, not because I didn’t want to – but because I didn’t want it to suck.
The internet is filled with people who are hugely competent writers with tons to say.
Why should what I have to add matter to anyone?
I don’t want to look dumb outside of my usual domain of competence on my podcast.
I don’t want people to think I’m boring or a bad writer.
I don’t my confidence to be knocked by you not liking what I send out.
Here lies a lesson I forgot I’d learned:
“We procrastinate because we don’t want to look bad. Our fear of failure stops us from doing things.
You are afraid of failure, but by procrastinating you guarantee failure. You inoculate yourself from failure publicly by certifying your failure privately.”

The solution?
Jump and learn to fly on the way down.
Hence – here’s my first email.
The format will almost certainly change, there’s probably some spelling errors, maybe it’s too short or too long… but it’s SENT.
Perhaps you’ve also been putting something off until you’re “ready”.
If you wait until you’re ready, you’ll be waiting forever.
Here is a kick in the balls to get moving.
Just jump.
MODERN WISDOM
I do a podcast which has had 4 million+ downloads. You should subscribe on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
This week’s upcoming episodes:
Monday.
Taylor Pearson discusses how to discover your life’s core values & operating principles.
Thursday.
A big Episode 200 Q&A Special where we go through all your weird & wonderful enquiries live on air.
Saturday.
I haven’t decided yet. Maybe Matt Maruca – CEO of Ra Optics & creator of The Light Diet, or author & economist Andrew Scott on longevity.
I’m recording with David Birtwhistle, Ashley Mears & Chris Daw QC and going on my buddy Ethan Suplee’s show American Glutton too.
Big week. I’m gassed.
THINGS I’VE LEARNED
1.
The terminal velocity of a cat is non-fatal.
There’s documented cases of cats falling 32 storeys and surviving.
Crafty bastards.
2.
Red Rising is one of the most fun SciFi books I’ve read in ages and I’m now BALLS DEEP in the series.
Fast paced, super engaging & with really relatable characters. Plus it’s £1.99 on Kindle.
3.
There is no growth without goals.
Focussing on the process is important but not sufficient.
“Without a goal, you will find yourself perpetually lost, running faster and faster but making no true progress.
Goals give us directional clarity, a simple litmus test for where to allocate our time, energy, and focus each day.”
LIFE HACK
Turn your trackpad sensitivity up as high as it will go.
Seriously.
The pace at which you can move around the screen is limited by the sensitivity of your mouse.
Quicker mouse = quicker actions.
After an hour of getting used to it you’ll be doing everything 5-10% quicker.
After a few years of doing this I can’t bare anything less.
That’s it. My first email. Hopefully you enjoyed it!
Welcome to the family.
